Our Objective

Team DJB Taekwondo aims to increase participation in sporting and physical activity through the martial art Taekwondo. Team DJB follows the standards, regulations and ethos of Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters) which is the global governing body of Taekwondo.

The objectives are to deliver Taekwondo session at grassroot level through local school engagement, to increase participation in youth and adult population, through partnerships with local community organisations, college and higher education institutes. We are a community sports group that aim to deliver the Martial Art Taekwondo in East London boroughs.

About Us

“Our vision is to create a learning community where everyone has the opportunity to achieve success in a safe and caring environment”

In 2016, after delivering Taekwondo at a university as a physical activity for university students, the then club instructor, along with the support of the alumni club members, decided to set up a community group to deliver Taekwondo at grassroots.

Reflecting upon their time at the university Taekwondo club, they had enjoyed the holistic aspect of Taekwondo which helped with the busy student life. The team wanted to share their love of Taekwondo to the local community starting with the first project with a youth organisation in Tower Hamlets to deliver Taekwondo to the youths from marginalised communities, focusing on improving mental and emotional well-being through physical activity.

Four years on, Team DJB Taekwondo now has 4 registered club instructors currently delivering 7 classes a week all year around and 4 classes a week during term time. Working with 2 youth organisations, a university and DJB's own classes across 2 East London boroughs.
